Classic Coachworks was opened by John Olsen in Salinas CA in 1980. Business was primarily restoration of Mercedes Benz, Rolls Royce, Jaguars and other classic cars. Classic Coachworks has had cars shown at the Pebble Beach Concours D’ Elegance and the Palo Alto Concours D’ Elegance among others. When the shop moved to it’s current location in the late 1980’s, John expanded his business to a full service and repair auto shop, specializing in European cars and acquiring the name European Car Service by Classic Coachworks. John and is team of mechanics can provide you with complete servicing and repair of your new or vintage automobiles.
John Olsen
John Olsen began his racing career in 1992,with the sports car club of America. He started with a Datsun 510 modified for racing. He went on to set track records at every racetrack on the west coast. At his first national championship race in Mid Ohio, he missed first place by a fraction of a second. Nissan then offered him a sponsorship. Other sponsors were Goodyear, Redline Oil, ERC race fuels and locally Tarpy’s Roadhouse. He then began racing a purpose built Nissan tube chassis 200sx. He won the National championship in 2000.
